(This B&B is no longer in service. The owners have moved to Glens Falls, NY and have opened a new inn www.thebellhouseinn.com)
What would I like to do for my birthday this year? I decided to stay overnight at the Altamont Old Stone House Bed & Breakfast. I’ll tell you more about my little getaway in future blog posts.
The Old Stone House, built in1773, sits on a mountainside with a distant view of Albany. Surrounded by meadows and hills, the peaceful setting put me at ease. And the innkeepers—Bill and Nancy—keep the inn really clean and tidy. Outside, we continued to unwind by the swimming pool. Maggie, a Jack Russell, kept watch over us and became our friend. In the morning, I had coffee on the porch while listening to the bird symphony.
Bill and Nancy are the perfect hosts. The breakfast menu pampered us with choices both simple and rich. Definitely check out this inn if you’re ever heading to the Albany- Schenectady area.
