Winterthur Museum, Delaware

Autumn is a great time to visit the Winterthur Museum, located in northern Delaware. We have not been there since before the pandemic so we took a trip to see what’s new. The house museum, founded by Henry Francis duPont is a 175 room marvel filled with almost 90,000 items relating to American Decorative Arts. The self guided house tour was a welcome surprise. We could ply the docents stationed in the rooms with questions and spend as much time as we liked. Below are a few samples of the rooms open that day. By the way - the annual Delaware Antiques Show, sponsored by Winterthur, takes place November 15-17, 2024 at the Chase Center in Wilmington, Delaware.

An autumn view. Drapes were changed 4 times during the year.

Wishing we could have lunch on the balcony.
