Wheaton Arts
Millville, NJ exit 26 off Route 55
Admission $9.00 adults/ $6.00 children
As far back as I can remember, I have always collected something – post cards, rocks & minerals, snuff bottles, carnival glass , Fenton, and hand blown glass Christmas ornaments.
After having seen a documentary on PBS on Wheaton Arts in Millville, NJ this past summer, I was eager to return after a hiatus of about five years to see the changes for myself.
The gallery has really expanded with some fantastic art. We saw some extraordinary works from local & national glass artists, jewelers, potters, and more.
Pictured are 2 examples of the incredible talent these artists possess. The gallery and several other shops, including a general store are free to the public.
With admission, visitors can tour the Museum of American Glass and the Creative Glass Center. Choose a day when you can spend time. You will be inspired. I certainly was years ago, when I first witnessed the artists demonstrate glass blowing. The Museum is a wonderful visual encyclopedia of any kind of glass you can imagine, especially glass produced in Southern NJ.
Bring the kids. They will enjoy the demonstration. The general store has a section filled with creative toys (and candy displayed in old fashioned candy containers & bins), plus lots of room to run outside beneath the pines.
